Campground Facilities at Little Camp Slocan

Little Camp Slocan is off-grid, but it is not bare-bones. The campground’s central guest area — known as Downtown — is where guests will find most of the amenities that make the stay easier: washrooms, hot showers, filtered water, Wi‑Fi, power outlets for charging, and seasonal camp basics as availability evolves.

Our campground office, affectionately known as ‘Downtown’, is the central hub of Little Camp Slocan. Here you’ll find most guest services, including the campground store, washrooms, firewood, rentals, filtered water, wi-fi and power outlets for charging devices.

Cell Service and Wi-Fi: There is no cell service at Little Camp Slocan. If you need to connect, we provide fast satellite internet Downtown. It’s great for checking emails or a quick call, but please don't count on it reaching your specific campsite.

Little Camp Store: Our camp store is currently in the works and will offer a curated selection of basic supplies and camp essentials. Check in with us during your stay to see what’s currently in stock as we continue to grow. For now, we recommend arriving with your must-have items while we build out our inventory.

Four fully private, single-occupant washrooms at Downtown. Because we’re off-grid, they require a little extra care.

Septic: Toilets drain into a sensitive septic system. Flush toilet paper only — no wipes, napkins, or feminine hygiene products.

Greywater: Showers and sinks drain into a sensitive grey water system. Please use biodegradable soaps and shampoos and arrive with the essentials you need.

Hot water: Solar-powered hot showers and sinks at no extra cost. Supply is finite — please keep showers short so there’s enough for everyone.

Accessibility: One unit is accessibility-friendly with a barrier-free shower and grab bars.

Power: One washroom has an outlet for small devices — ask staff which one. No hair dryers please.

Our water comes directly from a Valhalla Mountains creek. Because it is a surface source, all water on site is legally non-potable — we are technically on a boil water advisory.

Testing: We test surface and filtered water monthly through a BC Enhanced Water Quality Assurance–certified lab. Results are available at the office. If results come back unsafe, guests are notified immediately.

Filtered water (Downtown): All water inside Downtown and the marked outdoor spigot on the east side of the building is filtered through a 1-micron absolute filter (removes Giardia) followed by UV disinfection, but it remains legally non-potable.

Unfiltered water (campsites): All outdoor spigots at the campsites — including semi-serviced sites — are untreated. Bring your own treatment system and ask at check-in about any seasonal options available on site.

Risk: Consumption of any water at Little Camp Slocan is at your own risk. See the CDC guide to backcountry water treatment for more information.

Little Camp Slocan generates 100% of its electricity from the sun. Because we are off-grid, power is a finite resource.

Central Charging: Standard outlets are available at the central facility for all guests.

High-Draw Appliances: We love our off-grid solar system, but it has limits! Please check with us before plugging in things like electric kettles or travel heaters.

Conservation: In rare cases of low solar production, we may ask you to limit charging to critical devices only.
